It's difficult to find anything wrong with this router - it has everything you could want in a versatile router. We started using the Porter Cable
690's in the 1980's and have never needed anything more! The only thing we wish it did include is a shaft lock collar although it's more of
a wish-list feature. We do like the changes from a toggle switch to a rocker style and also the lever lock system instead of the thumbscrew when adjusting
the depth.
You get both 1/4-inch and 1/2-inch collets to handle even the largest of bits designed for 1/2-inch collets. The Porter Cable collet system is
self releasing which means you don't have to worry about trying to release stuck bits. Believe me, this thing has the power and speed control to handle
any job you can throw at it. Say goodbye to the chatter or burning that other routers in this class exhibit. With all the power this router
has to offer you would expect it to jump out of your hands on start-up. Porter Cable has taken care of this with their soft-start technology.
This is truly a router that any professional woodworker will enjoy and it's priced low enough for the do-it-yourselfer or occasional woodworker.
If you only have one router this is the only one I would even consider!
